MANILA — Silent killer coronavirus disease claimed another victim from among the ranks of the Philippine National Police the PNP Health Service reported.
PNP’s latest victim was a 31-year-old Non-Commissioned Officer assigned to the Police Region Office. He succumbed to the disease on May 4.
As a result, the COVID-19 death toll to PNP climbed to 57.
As of 6 p.m. on May 4, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the PNP hit 20,769 after 158 new cases were recorded.
Police recoveries were monitored at 172 on that day for a total survivor tally of 19,086.
Active cases, meanwhile, dipped to a low of 1,626, the lowest record since March.
The whole PNP hierarchy mourns the death of Patient 57 saying the victim “was still young and would have been able to serve the organization a lot.” (AI/MTVN)
