MANILA – Recovery from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) among police personnel has risen by 172 to 19,086.
In an update on Wednesday, Philippine National Police (PNP) deputy chief for administration, Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, also reported an additional 158 cases, 153 of whom were new infections while five were reinfections, with active cases now at 1,626.
Of the total active infections, 1,576 are isolated in PNP facilities and some local government units while 50 are confined in hospitals.
The PNP logged its 57th death, a 31-year-old police non-commissioned officer assigned to the Police Regional Office 3 (Central Luzon), who passed away on Tuesday.
The police force, which has been leading the implementation of quarantine rules, has recorded a total of 20,769 Covid-19 cases since March last year.
Most of the reported infections are work-related.
Meanwhile, the number of PNP personnel vaccinated against Covid-19 has reached 12,425.
A total of 10,362 PNP personnel received the Sinovac vaccine and 2,057, the AstraZeneca jabs.
Out of those who received Sinovac shots, 3,387 already got their second dose.
Four police attachés got Moderna vaccines while two police attachés received Pfizer jabs abroad. (PNA)
