MANILA — Newly-installed Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar is warmly welcomed by proud Tagkawayanins in a flag-raising ceremony and homecoming celebration, dubbed ‘Pagbabalik, Pagpupugay at Pasasalamat,’ in the Municipality of Tagkawayan, Quezon Province on Tuesday May 11, 2021.
Prior to the event, the PNP Chief visited the tomb of his late father, Victor Eleazar, a World War II guerrilla fighter and whose birthday coincides with the PNP chief’s homecoming visit.
He also conducted an inspection at the PNP Maritime Group detachment and the Municipal Police Station of Tagkawayan.
Hailed from a quaint town in Quezon Province, the PNP chief rose from the ranks as a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) ‘Hinirang’ class of 1987 to become the 26th Chief of the PNP.
He is the 6th PNP chief appointed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte under his term to lead the 220,000-strong national police force. (AI/MTVN)
