MANILA – The city government of Manila has completed the distribution of financial aid from the national government for those affected by the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the country.
“Masaya kami. Maraming salamat kay Pangulong (Rodrigo) Duterte, maraming salamat Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of National Defense. Kumpleto na po, 100 percent na po na-implement iyong gusto ninyong ipagawa sa amin (We are happy, thanks to President Duterte, to the DSWD, DILG, DND. We have completed the implementation of your orders),” Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said during his Facebook live update on Tuesday evening.
Domagoso said the city government completed the distribution of the PHP1.52 billion to 380,820 family beneficiaries in 35 days.
Each family received a cash aid of PHP4,000.
He said aside from the family beneficiaries, 6,421 persons with disabilities (PWD) and 4,241 solo parents also received their emergency financial assistance from the national government.
Moreover, 20,335 individuals under vulnerable groups that include informal workers, transport groups, and persons deprived of liberty, and 9,072 families from the left-out barangays in the city or those who were unable to enlist in certain barangays before, also benefitted from the “ayuda”.
Domagoso thanked Manila Social Welfare Department Director Re Fugoso and staff, social workers, and day care workers who led the distribution of the cash aid in different villages in the city.
“I’m proud of my co-workers here in City Hall. Todas na. Nadali na natin, hanggang kahuli-hulihang sentimo (We did it. We distributed the aid up to the last cent),” he said. (PNA)
