Another police official dies of COVID-19; PNP death toll notches up to 62

MANILA — The Philippine National Police mourns the death of a Police Lieutenant assigned in Tarlac province.

The 48- year old officer is the 62nd fatality in the police force due to Covid-19 and designated as the Deputy Chief of Police in one of the municipalities of Tarlac.

Based on the report submitted by the PNP Health Service to PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, stated that on May 5 the police officer tested positive for Covid and was brought to the quarantine facility.

On May 10, he experienced difficulty of breathing and was immediately transferred to a nearby hospital.

On May 16, he was pronounced dead by his attending physician due to Pneumonia.

As of May 18, PNPHS recorded 128 new recoveries of police personnel bringing the total of recoveries to 20,582 while a total of 105 new cases were also tallied bringing the total cases to 22,207 with 1,383 active cases. (AI/MTVN)
