Nearly 6K hotel rooms open for NCR Plus ‘staycationers’: DOT

MANILA – A total of 5,986 rooms from 13 hotels in Metro Manila are available for leisure guests or “staycationers” from the National Capital Region and nearby provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal– collectively known as the NCR Plus.

Subject to the observance of minimum public health standards, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) Resolution No. 115-A allowed specialized markets of the DOT to operate even while NCR Plus is under general community quarantine with “heightened restrictions” status, which includes the staycation program.

“While the IATF allowed our request to permit leisure travel under the current quarantine condition, we would like to remind everyone that the health and safety of our guests and tourism workers remain the utmost priority. These staycation hotels, all of which are star-rated, have the capacity and have been inspected and oriented on the new normal protocols to ensure this,” Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said Tuesday.

DOT released Advisory No. 5 s. 2021 on the Operational Guidelines for Accommodation Establishments until May 31, allowing staycation in accommodation establishments that have been granted a Certificate of Authority to Operate for Staycation (CAOS) pursuant to DOT Administrative Order No. 2020-006-C.

Staycation guests must only come from within the NCR Plus area and must not be below 18 or above 65 years old.

The following are the staycation hotels in NCR:

* Grand Hyatt Hotel
* Okada Manila Hotel
* Shangri-la at the Fort
* Nobu Hotel
* Joy Nostalg Hotel & Suites Manila
* EDSA Shangri-la Manila
* Solaire Resort
* Hyatt Regency
* Nuwa Hotel of City of Dreams
* The Peninsula Manila
* Aruga by Rockwell
* Sheraton Manila Hotel
* Hilton Manila.

The DOT assured would-be staycationers that these hotels are not being used as coronavirus disease 2019 quarantine facilities. (PNA)
