NoCot Capitol on skeleton workforce over rising Covid-19 cases

KIDAPAWAN CITY, North Cotabato – The provincial government started implementing Wednesday a skeleton workforce to deter the risk of acquiring the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) among the employees.

In a memorandum issued Tuesday, Governor Nancy Catamco said the move aims to protect employees from possible Covid-19 infected clients that could spread and hinder government’s services.

“Head of offices of the provincial government are directed to set up skeletal workforce in their respective offices from May 19 to May 28 to perform the mandated function of the provincial offices and so as not to hamper the government operations,” the governor said.

The provincial government currently employs some 800 workers.

The latest bulletin by the Department of Health in Region 12 (DOH-12) on Covid-19 showed that the province has a total of 277 active cases, with this city posting the highest number at 74.

The towns of President Roxas and Carmen also posted high numbers of Covid-19 cases at 63, and 40, respectively.

Meanwhile, several local government units in the province also imposed preventive measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 infections. On Monday, a 15-day lockdown was imposed in Barangay Poblacion of Carmen town following the sudden increase of Covid-19 cases at 23 and two Covid-19 related deaths.

On Tuesday, Mayor Russel M. Abonado of M’lang town also issued an order temporarily suspending the operation of all resorts and tourist attractions in the area to avoid large gatherings and exposures.

A portion of Barangay Poblacion in this city is also currently under focused containment after three households were found positive for the virus. (PNA)
