‘Dante’ to bring rains to Batanes

MANILA – Tropical Depression Dante on Saturday was spotted 30 km. north-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Batanes.

In its 4 a.m. daily weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said “Dante” has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center, gustiness of up to 70 kph, and is moving east-northeastward at 30 kph.

By 2 p.m. Saturday, “Dante” is expected to be outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over the Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao regions brought by the inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ).

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers brought by localized thunderstorms.

Winds in Northern Luzon will be moderate to strong and headed southwest, with moderate to rough coastal water conditions.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds headed southeast to southwest, with slight to moderate coastal water conditions.

The temperature in Metro Manila will range from 26°C to 33°C; Baguio City, 17°C to 24°C; Legazpi City, 27°C to 33°C; Metro Cebu, 24°C to 33°C; Cagayan de Oro City, 25°C to 33°C; and Metro Davao, 25°C to 31°C. (PNA)
