BUTUAN CITY – Operatives of Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Caraga Region arrested a high-value target drug personality in a buy-bust operation here on Saturday.
BCPO director Col. Excelso Lazaga Jr., in a statement Sunday, identified the arrested suspect as Horacio Michael Atupas, alias Tata, 47, classified as “a high-value individual and a priority target.”
“Atupas was arrested after selling sachets of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer in Purok 4, Barangay Tandang Sora, Butuan City,” Lazaga said.
Authorities confiscated 30.5 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP359,000 and PHP4,000 marked money used in the buy-bust from the suspect.
Assorted illegal drug paraphernalia, including an improvised bamboo sealer, improvised glass water pipes, and used crumpled aluminum foils were also seized from Atupas.
The suspect, now under the custody of BCPO, will be facing charges in violation of the provisions of Republic Act 9165 also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
Lazaga said the anti-illegal drug operations of BCPO will continue amidst the continuing threats of the pandemic.
He also recognized the support of the communities and the local leaders in Butuan in the anti-illegal drug and anti-criminality drives of BCPO.
‘We attribute the success of this operation to the coordination of the community and the support of our stakeholders,” Lazaga said. (PNA)
