LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Wittingly or unwittingly displaying her indecisiveness, Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday admitted that running for governor in Camarines Sur is more appealing to her than having a crack on the presidency 11 months from now.
“So sa akin, totoo na attractive sa akin iyong option na iyon pero wala pa akong desisyon (So for me, it’s true that I am attracted to that option but I still cannot decide),” Robredo revealed in her weekly radio program over radio DZXL.
She previously said that local positions are “attractive” to her, but stressed that she is not ruling out a presidential bid.
Robredo also bared that former congressman Rolando Andaya Jr. talked to her in February to convince her to run for governor in the 2022 elections.
The filing of the certificate of candidacy (COC) for the local and national elective posts will be on October 1 to 8, 2021.
Political analysts said if Robredo runs for governor then former Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV will definitely throw his hat into the presidential ring as his rabid supporters have been grumbling on the inclusion of Senator Grace Poe and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno in the list of probable standard bearer of the opposition coalition 1Sambayan.
Maharlika TV sources disclosed that Moreno will run for president, with the backing of tycoon Enrique Razon.
Poe is apparently no longer interested to seek the presidency for the second time.
The same sources said the most likely presidential contenders will be presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, former Senator Bongbong Marcos, Senator Manny Pacquiao, Sen. Ping Lacson, Trillanes and Moreno.
