8 nabbed, P358-K shabu seized in Region 9

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Eight people, including two women, were arrested while some PHP358,540 worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate operations in Region 9, a top police official announced Wednesday.

Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) director, identified the suspects as John Paul Daplas, 26; Baby Agnes Mondejar, 28; Jhon Russel Tautoan, 34; Hanapi Maki, 22; Peralta Baki Jr., 44; Aldazer Bakri, 35; Mitchie Ando, 45; and, Oliver Arceno, 36.

Ylagan said Daplas was arrested in an anti-drug operation around 2 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay Guiwan, this city.

Confiscated from Daplas’ possession were some 31.9 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of PHP217,000 and PHP400 marked money.

At around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, authorities recovered PHP2,000 worth of shabu and PHP200 marked money from Maki in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mercedes.

Meanwhile, Mondejar yielded some PHP102,000 worth of suspected shabu, a coin purse, and PHP300 marked money in a buy-bust operation around 10 p.m. Tuesday in Lustre Street, Barangay Sta. Catalina.

Baki and Bakri, meanwhile, were arrested in Delos Santos Drive, Barangay Putik at around 7:10 p.m. Recovered from them were some 2.55 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP17,340 and PHP200 marked money.

At about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Tautoan yielded a caliber .38 revolver and ammunition aside from PHP10,000 worth of suspected shabu in an operation in Sitio Buenagatas, Barangay Boalan.

In Zamboanga del Norte, recovered from Ando were some PHP3,400 worth shabu, PHP500 marked money, and illegal drug paraphernalia in Barangay Pangian, Siocon town around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Arceno yielded PHP6,800 worth of suspected shabu, PHP500 marked money and proceeds from the sale of illegal drugs worth PHP700 when arrested at around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay Danmasing, Rizal town.

The suspects will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
