LEGAZPI CITY – The chief of Police Regional Office-5 (PRO5) has ordered strict checkpoint operations in different areas of the Bicol region amid the attacks by the New People’s Army (NPA).
Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, PRO5 director, said in a statement on Wednesday, the directive is to ensure the safety of motorists and villagers and to shield them from NPA’s terrorist acts.
“In the past days, our office received reports about the innocent victims of the bloody ideology that is being pushed by the rebels,” he said, adding that the Bicol police is one with the government in stopping these attacks.
Estomo also said the police continues to conduct operations against criminality to keep the peace and order in the community.
The police force in the region will give quality service that could be seen, felt, and valued by the people, he said.
The NPA is listed as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the Philippines. (PNA)
