Gov’t facilitates repatriation of OFW found dead in Saudi hotel

MANILA – A homebound overseas Filipino worker (OFW) was found dead in his hotel room in Haradh, Saudi Arabia on May 18, the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh reported.

The embassy, in a statement dated June 8, did not identify the Filipino but confirmed that he was an employee of the Al-Khobar-based company Total Safety.

The government and Saudi authorities are now facilitating the repatriation of the OFW’s remains to the Philippines.

Authorities are investigating the matter, the embassy added.

Pending the probe’s findings, the embassy advised Filipinos in Saudi Arabia “to refrain from speculating” and making conclusions about the case.

“The Embassy is coordinating with the family and the employer of the deceased OFW as well as with relevant Saudi authorities to facilitate the shipment of the OFW’s remains to the Philippines soon after a police report on the cause of death is finalized,” it said. (PNA)
