CAMP CAPINPIN, Tanay, Rizal — An NPA member died following an encounter between joint Armed Forces of the Philippines-Philippine National Police forces and communist terrorist group in Luisiana, Laguna on Wednesday, June 9.
BGen Alex S Rillera, Commander of the 202nd Infantry Brigade, said soldiers and police acted on reports of CTG presence at Barangay Dela Paz when they encountered more or less 7 NPAs.
“This triggered a 10-minute firefight that resulted in the death of one rebel and the recovery of a Garand rifle.”
“May this development bring the few remaining rebels to peacefully surrender because we will never rejoice in the death of our fellowmen. We have, however, a duty to protect our people from the harms of terrorism, and we shall see to it that we will emerge victorious in this near-ending war.”
The 2ID leadership commended the unrelenting efforts of government troops, their unity with the police, and the cooperation of all levels of government through the Task Forces to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and the citizens in our area of operation.
Available military and police assets are placed on high alert to support the ongoing pursuit operations against the fleeing NPA terrorists. (AI/MTVN)
