ASINGAN, Pangasinan – The local government unit (LGU) here is urging its residents experiencing symptoms of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infection to avail of free swab test to curb the increasing cases in the town.
In an interview on Wednesday, Asingan town information officer Romel Aguilar said the LGU has over 500 initial available slots for the free reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test.
“Lumalaki yong bilang, naisipan ito para maging mas open din yong tao lalo kung pakiramdam niya nakakaramdam siya ng sintomas. (The number of Covid-19 cases is rising so this was thought of for the residents to be more open especially if they feel that they have the symptoms),” he said.
Mayor Carlos Lopez Jr. urged the residents on Tuesday to visit the Rural Health Unit in the town as well as public hospitals to avail of the swab test if they experience fever, flu, cough, colds, loss of sense of taste and smell, sore throat, headache, joint pains, weakness or fatigue, and rashes, or have been close contact to any positive individual.
As of Tuesday, Asingan recorded 44 active cases. (PNA)
