PNP recoveries hit 23.3K as 113 more cops beat Covid-19

MANILA – Another 113 police personnel recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the Philippine National Police (PNP)’s total recovery tally to 23,364.

Based on the latest data from the PNP Health Service on Wednesday, another 126 police officers contracted Covid-19.

This brings the number of active cases in the police force to 1,756, out of a total of 25,190 infections since the pandemic started last year.

Meanwhile, a 34-year-old police corporal assigned to the Special Action Force in Surigao del Sur is the PNP’s 70th fatality from the disease.

On June 6, the patient was rushed to the hospital in Surigao del Sur for a check-up due to debilities.

In the early hours of June 7, he was transferred to another hospital in Agusan del Sur for thorough medication as suggested by his attending physician.

At around 6:30 a.m. of the same day, the patient tested positive for Covid-19 based on antigen test results.

At 9:30 a.m., he was declared dead by the attending physician due to cardiopulmonary arrest secondary to cerebral dysfunction secondary to vasculitis, while awaiting results of the confirmatory swab test.

Later in the day, his swab test yielded positive results. (PNA)
