Winwyn Marquez retires from beauty pageants

MANILA—Beauty queen-actress Teresita Ssen “Winwyn” Marquez is already contented with her title as Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 and she will no longer be joining any beauty pageant.

In her Instagram on June 8, Winwyn reposted her video when she competed for the Reina Hispanoamericana in Bolivia in 2017.

She wrote in the caption, “People have been tagging me non-stop sa video na to’ so might as well post it on my feed again (heart emoji) oh how time flies. (crown emoji), thank you sa nag video.”

Winwyn was the first Asian and Filipina to win the said title.

A netizen asked the Kapuso star if it is still possible for Winwyn to join other pageants like the Miss Universe Philippines.

“No na,” was Winwyn’s curt reply to her follower.

It looks like there are many Winwyn’s fans who are trying to convince her to join other local pageants.

However, Winwyn wants a different path this time.

What she can do is to support those candidates who will join the local beauty pageants.

In her other post on her Instagram, Winwyn said, “I am overwhelmed with all your messages, grabe, non-stop. 2015 and 2017 ako sumali.. ngayon 2021 na at hanggang ngayon ganyan pa rin kayo..

“Thank you so much pero hanggang sa pag-support na lang ako sa mga candidates natin and sa mga gustong sumali ng pageants.

“Minsan magbubukas talaga tayo ng ibang chapter sa buhay natin and need mag-move on sa ibang bagay but sabi nga, di ba, once a Miss Philippines, always a Miss Philippines.”

Again, this month is the pageant season in the country.

The grand coronation night for the Binibining Pilipinas 2021 will be held on July 11, and Miss World Philippines will be on July 25 along with Miss Philippines Earth.

There is still no advisory yet as to when will be the coronation night for the Miss Universe Philippines.(ecd/mtvn)
