BACOLOD CITY – A series of buy-busts conducted by joint police operatives here in the past four days led to the arrest of seven drug personalities who yielded some PHP883,200 worth of suspected shabu, reports of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) on Friday showed.
On Thursday afternoon, two persons were arrested in the parking area of a shopping mall here after selling PHP84,000 worth of the prohibited substance to a poseur-buyer.
Police identified the suspects as Susana Diaz, 62, resident of Purok Sigay, Barangay 2 in this city; and Jose Carlos Caño, 21, of Purok Golf, Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City.
“The subjects are newly-identified high-value individuals operating in Bacolod and the neighboring cities,” the report said.
At around 3:45 p.m., the two suspects took part in the transaction at the open parking lot of Ayala Malls Capitol Central on South Capitol Road, leading to their arrest and the recovery of some 100 grams of shabu valued at PHP680,000 from their possession.
Diaz and Carlos were endorsed to the custody of Police Station 2.
The Police Regional Office-Western Visayas report confirmed that Diaz was previously arrested and detained also for illegal drugs, and was released from jail recently after availing of a plea bargain in court.
Investigation further showed that Caño has served as Diaz’s accomplice in selling drugs in Bacolod and the neighboring cities.
The operation was conducted by personnel of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit-Western Visayas, and the BCPO Police Station 2 led by Capt. Paul Vincent Rendon.
Almost four hours later, Rollin Robles, 25, was collared by operatives of Police Station 4 at Purok 7, Mazo-Ylac Street in Barangay Villamonte.
During the operation at 8:10 p.m., the suspect sold a sachet of shabu worth PHP500 to an undercover policeman and later yielded eight sachets more containing about 3.27 grams of the same substance valued at PHP23,000.
At around 9:50 p.m. on Wednesday, operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) arrested Reginald Alarcon, 25, along Aguinaldo Street in Barangay 4.
After selling PHP500 worth of shabu to a poseur-buyer, he was also found possessing seven sachets more of the prohibited substance, weighing about five grams, with a standard drug price of PHP34,000.
Alarcon has been detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 2.
On Tuesday, Joshua Arroyo, 28, and Joselito Dagatan Jr., 22, were apprehended by operatives of Police Station 8 in Barangay Pahanocoy after selling PHP200 worth of shabu to a poseur-buyer.
They also yielded about 1.5 grams of the same prohibited substance valued at PHP10,200.
On Monday, personnel of CDEU also arrested Alvin Tanoy, 24, in Purok Matahum, Barangay Tangub.
Tanoy, considered a street-level individual, sold PHP500 worth of shabu to an undercover police officer and also yielded 11 plastic sachets containing the same substance, weighing 20 grams valued at PHP136,000. (PNA)
