MANILA—“Buhay na buhay ako!”
These were the first words Boy Abunda uttered when pep.ph writer Gorgy Rula called him this Friday, June 18 as if he was already expecting the veracity of the rumor that he has passed on.
In a report, there have been calls from non-showbiz friends who are asking if what they read on Facebook is true that Ai Ai Dela Alas and Sharon Cuneta are already crying because of Boy’s passing.
Two tabloid editors also asked about the King of Talk which was alarming, hence, the call to Boy Abunda.
This type of fake news is no longer new as there are blog sites which sensationalize news about celebrities for their blogs to be opened and viewed.
Boy just laughed off the rumor and this type of racket bloggers do to win attention.
What also disturbed the King of Talk was the call from his partner Bong Quintana who ringed him up at a time when he knew that Boy was still asleep. Bong said he was bothered by the news and people are also calling him to check if the news is true.
This makes Boy think that he will live a long life. He did not pay attention to those who are spreading the fake news but he has a message he wants to convey to them:
“Hindi ako nagmamadali. Pwede na siyang mauna kung gusto na niya. Okay lang ako. Hindi ako nagmamadali!”
But while we ignore such fake news, it is also good to remind rumor mongers that nowadays, karma is already digital. Why make a living at the expense of others?
Boy Abunda was not the first victim of this incident and surely, he will not be the last. So, beware!
