Ex-rebels, local populace condemn CTG’s atrocities in Aurora

MANILA — Twenty-six (26) former rebels (FRs) and the former exploited local populace has formed a united front to condemn the decades of atrocities, lies, and deceptions of the Communist Terrorists Group (CTG) to the innocent people of Aurora in indignation rally held at Barangay Cozo, Casiguran, Aurora on June 11, 2021.

Lieutenant Colonel Reandrew P. Rubio, commanding officer of the 91st Infantry (Sinagtala) Battalion (91IB) said that the indignation rally of the people in Aurora is a manifestation that the government is winning the peace through the “Whole of Nation Approach” as embodied in under EO 70 of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The conduct of said activity is in line with the effective implementation of the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) through the efforts of Security and Knowledge Management Cluster of Regional Task Force (RTF) ELCAC 3 headed by Director Maria Luisa De Guzman, MNSA, RD NICA3 in collaboration and partnership with OPAPP, 91IB, PNP and other NGAs.

A consultation meeting and application of livelihood assistance were also made where all NGAs present has laid down their respective programs for the FRs.

Among the activities during the indignation rally were the pledge of support to the government of 26 FRs, withdrawal of support of the former exploited local populace, and burning of the NPA flag.

A candle-lighting rite was also held and prayers were offered for the souls of all the victims of the five-decade terrorist group.

Florenz Zaira Buenconsejo, representing Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Aurora Provincial Director Ofelio A. Tactac, Jr. explained the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the DILG which is one of the flagship programs of President Rodrigo Duterte’s peace and order agenda.

LTC Rubio stressed that the government will continue to work hand-in-hand together with the different agencies, sectors of society, stakeholders, among others, to achieve a lasting sense of genuine peace in this province.

Meanwhile, the commander of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, Philippine Army, Major General Alfredo V. Rosario Jr. PA lauds the people in Aurora who displays a strong unity to denounce the atrocities, lies, and deception of the CTG against them.

“Ang pagkamulat sa katotohanan ay isang mahalagang bagay na nakakapagpabago ng desisyon ng isang tao. Kung dati ay nililinlang sila ng mga teroristang grupo, ngayon ay hindi na dahil namulat na ang mga tao sa mga krimen nito kontra sa mga inosenteng sibilyan na kanilang pinapatay. Katuwang ang LGU at ating partner-stakeholders, asahan ninyong mas papalawakin pa namin ang pagpapakalat ng impormasyon ukol sa dulot ng teroristang grupo sa ating komunidad,” said MGEN Rosario Jr. (ai/mtvn)
