COTABATO CITY – Anti-narcotics agents, backed by military and police personnel, arrested five drug suspects and seized from them some PHP102,000 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Pikit, North Cotabato on Tuesday night.
Capt. Mautin Pangandigan, the town’s police chief, said the joint operation by the region’s Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-12), Army’s 90th Infantry Battalion, and local police was successfully carried out at 11:20 p.m. in Barangay Poblacion.
Arrested were Vicente Pacheco Sambo, 38; Mark Pacheco Sambo, 33; John Mechor Colita Pacheco, 35; Robert Louise Cadalso Pacheco, 19; and Ryan dela Serna Layna, 28, all of Pikit town.
“The suspects were later surprised to find out that they have transacted with a poseur buyer,” Pangandigan said in a radio interview here Wednesday.
Seized from the suspects who did not resist arrest, were some 15 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of PHP102,000; the PHP6,000 marked money and drug paraphernalia.
In a separate interview, Neil Joyce G. Liansing, PDEA-North Cotabato provincial head, said all suspects were immediately brought to the PDEA-12 headquarters in General Santos City where they will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
