Leaving a Legacy by C. de los Angeles

Bilyonaryo, Politiko, Abante and Manila Times mistakenly mention Dennis Uy as the owner of Starpay.

Nowhere in Senator Manny Pacquiao’s press conference did he mention Dennis Uy or that he owns Starpay.

The good senator did mention Starpay as the unknown e-wallet which received around 50B for SAP2 far eclipsing the more establish e-wallets like Gcash and Paymaya.

Per SEC records and online news sites, Starpay is owned by the same owners of STARMobile. Starmobile are locally branded Chinese made cellphones.

Based on papers we secured from the SEC the following are the real owners of Starpay: Joey Uy, Ulysses T. Lao, Armando N. Cajayon Jr., Lamberto P. Scarella, and Philip W. Co.

The inclusion of Dennis Uy is a distraction from the real problem with DSWD and SAP 2.

Why did they give billions to an unknown E-wallet with 500,000 plus downloads only?

DSWD claims they have already accounted for and Starpay has liquidated already with DSWD. DSWD claims they are already for any investigation?

Why not furnish the public or at least the office of the Senator the reports? Its public money anyway so the people have the right to know.

  4. Politiko

In the interests of responsible journalism I hope they correct it and make the necessary retractions.
