BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Health in Caraga Region (DOH-13) on Friday said it received an additional 36,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines to help intensify its inoculation program against the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
The additional Sinovac vaccines arrived on Thursday via Cebu Pacific Airlines freight at the Bancasi Airport here, a DOH-13 statement said on Friday.
“The additional vaccines were contained in 23 boxes and were safely transported to the cold-room storage at the DOH Doongan Warehouse in Butuan City,” the department added.
The Sinovac doses will be distributed to the different provinces, cities, and municipalities in the region.
During the 6th Full Council Meeting of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict in Caraga on Wednesday, DOH-13 regional director Cesar Cassion said that as of July 6, a total of 66,758 individuals in the region among A1, A2, and A3 priority groups have already received their full vaccination for Covid-19.
In the same period, a total of 118,218 individuals in Caraga were inoculated with Sinovac vaccines for the first dose and 53,052 for the second dose, while 53,245 individuals also received their first shots of AstraZeneca vaccines and 13,706 for second doses.
The consumption rate in the region for the first dose during the same period was registered at 94.41 percent, second dose at 84.39 percent.
The DOH-13 also reported Friday there are 282 new Covid-19 recoveries and 140 new Covid-19 cases in the region. (PNA)
