TUGUEGARAO City – The Philippine National Police today (Saurday, 10 July 2021) reported a huge drop in crime incidents in this city from the period covering January 1, 2021, to June 22, 2021 with a total of 231 reported crime incidents.
According to Tuguegarao City Police Chief Jhonalyn Quilang Tecbobolan, a decrease of 219 crime incidents or 51 percent drop from the 450 reported in the same months last year were recorded.
She said that from the 231 crime incidents, 24 are Index Crimes decreased by 12 incidents or 66 percent as compared to the 35 incidents reported last year. Index crimes include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, and car-napping.
“For non-Index crimes, a total of 207 were reported or a 50 percent decreased compared to the 414 recorded in the same period last year.
Non-index crimes include violation of special laws, reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury, reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property, violence against women and children, juvenile act, and selling illegal drugs,” Tacbobolan added.
The average monthly crime rate in the city also dropped to 2 percent compared to the 4 percent from the same period of last year.
“The drop in the incidents of crime in the city was due to the continuing campaign against illegal activities and the implementation of Beat Patrol System to preserve the peace and order,” Tacbobolan emphasized. (ai/mtvn)
