MANILA—On July 1, GMA Netowork, Inc introduced award-winning actress Bea Alonzo as the newest Kapuso star.
Today, Sunday, the former Star Magic chairman emeritus Johnny Manahan otherwise known as Mr. M, is set to be be given the warm welcome by the Kapuso Network.
Mr. M was the founding chair of Star Magic, the talent management arm of ABS CBN and had a great contribution to the Kapamilya Network as he was responsible for the popularity of several actors and actresses and helped them soar to greater heights.
When ABS CBN was shut down last year when its franchise was not renewed, Mr. M worked for the Brightlight Productions owned by businessman Albee Benitez.
Benitez is the producer of the musical variety show “Sunday Noontime Live” and the noontime variety show “Lunch Out Loud” which are both shown on TV5. Both shows were Mr. M’s brainchild. He was also its director.
However, his relationship with Brightlight Productions ended when Benitez decided to shut down the Sunday musical variety show hosted by Piolo Pascual, Maja Salvador and Catriona Gray.
Last month, June 9 to be exact, the news spread that Mr. M would move to GMA Network, Inc as a consultant, but there was neither confirmation nor denial from his camp.
When Bea moved in to GMA-7 last July 1, the news became hot again that his former boss from Star Magic would follow suit.
This was proven by those people close to them, and they are just waiting for the official announcement that the former Kapamilya executive will be a Kapuso, too!
It is not yet clear as to what position will Mr. M will be, but there is big possibility that he will handle the GMA Artist Center, the talent management arm of the Kapuso network.
One thing is sure, Mr. M will have an enormous contribution to his new home network. (ECD/MTVN)
