Kapuso creative writer Suzette Doctolero takes a swipe at ABS-CBN director Andoy Ranay

MANILA— As the airing of K-drama “The Penthouse” ends on GMA Telebabad on July 26, Monday, comes the pilot telecast of the drama series “Legal Wives” starring Dennis Trillo, Alice Dixson, Andrea Torres and Bianca Umali.

Since this is a Kapuso prime-time block, what timeslot would be given to “Legal Wives?”

Kapuso soap opera writer Suzette Doctolero issued a disclaimer that “Legal Wives” is “not a story about mistresses” but a cultural drama series.

“Lalong hindi ito pornoserye,” Suzette stressed.

She added, “Kuwento ito ng kakaibang pagsasakripisyo at pagmamahal.

“Ng isang pamilyang ibinagsak ng Marawi siege pero bumangon pa rin at naging mas matatag at buo sa tulong ng Allah.”

Suzette takes a swipe at Andoy

Suzette took a swipe on her Facebook post on July 13.

Included in her post is the news where Kapamilya director  Andoy Ranay mentioned words like “aanhin mo ang franchise kung basura naman ang trabaho.”

Andoy said in the news clip that he is a proud Kapamilya because with or without franchise, ABS CBN’s shows are “world-class quality.”

Everybody surmised that Andoy was referring to GMA-7 as the TV network with franchise but there are no good shows.

Suzette said that she controlled herself not to mind the issue, but begged for courtesy that she could not just take it sitting down.  Suzette hit back and said that Kapamilya did a Muslim story but they made them terrorists.

Suzette insisted, “Jusko, manginig naman sa pagpapatutsada at pagsabi ng world-class pa more.”

She said she remembers that after the 2013 Kapuso series “My Husband’s Lover,” Andoy did an LGBT-themed soap but was not able to keep the flow of the story  and made it a hetero love story.

“Yan na ba ang world-class? Trabahong duwag?” Suzette asked.

Then she stressed that GMA-7 stands for its strong stories, and respect for the minority group from which they derive the story.  “Ang “Legal Wives” ay hindi basura!!!”

“Legal Wives” became more interesting because of Robin’s piece of advice to daughter Kylie: “Pag-Muslim-in mo na lang si Aljur!” Robin considers himself a devout Muslim.

Kylie and Aljur broke up due to alleged third party  and Aljur is being linked to a popular actress.

Meanwhile, tapings for other GMA-7 soap operas have started like “I Left My Heart in Sorsogon” of Heart Evangelista, Richard Yap, and Paolo Contis.

The entire cast are quarantined and ready for their trip to -Sorsogon this Saturday. They will be there until August and might finish the whole season.

The cast and production staff of “Stories from the Heart: Loving Ms. Bridgitte” have been quarantined and will start their lock-in taping on July 21 at Tanay, Rizal.

There has to be good projects for the homegrown talents of GMA, with the added Kapamilya transferees.

Surely,  there will be good projects to watch out for with what Andoy Ranay treats as trash. There is “Legal Wives” and “The Broken Vow.”

Let’s wait and see where this word war between Suzette Doctolero and Andoy Ranay will lead with Jaclyn Jose tailing behind.

It is interesting like watching a teleserye. (ECD/MTVN)
