MANILA — Together with DOLE and local officials, Labor Secretary Silvestre “Bebot” Bello III led the awarding of safety seals, freebies, and livelihood packages in Lucena City in a ceremony held this morning (September 3) at the New Evacuation Center, Dalahican Road, Brgy. Mayao Crossing.
Among the assistance given to Lucenahins were the P1.5-million livelihood check for Yakap at Halik Multi-Purpose Cooperative for their biofuel project funded under Social Amelioration Welfare Program (SAWP); 100 Freebisikleta for Mobile Vendors; 9 individual projects for beneficiaries of Mission RACE; 11 individual projects; 5 Certificate of Eligibility for 20 motorized boats of 5 fisherfolk organizations; and payout for 480 interns under Government Internship Program (GIP).
Bello also awarded safety seals to 4 companies and turned over a 4-hectare lot as a donation to Quezon Workers Alliance for Livelihood Training and Empowerment which is intended for a housing project of Quezon workers.
The DOLE chief expressed his gratitude to a warm welcome of Lucenahins to his entourage and at the same time advised all the beneficiaries to take care of their livelihood and utilize their money wisely.
“Maraming salamat sa inyo… Ngayon ang gusto ko lang hingin sa inyo ‘yung trabaho ninyo alagaan ninyo… Ibigay niyo (ang pera niyo) sa kailangan ng pamilya ninyo,” Bello said.
He also emphasized that the people are not indebted to them because the funds used for the above-mentioned programs are people’s money.
“Hindi niyo po utang sa amin ‘yan. Hindi niyo utang kay Sec. Bello ‘yan. Hindi niyo utang sa mga kasamahan ko sa Department of Labor kasi gaya ng sinabi ni Pangulong Duterte ‘yang pera na ‘yan, pera ng tao,” he said.
The companies which received the Safety Seal Certification include Pearl Energy Philippines Operating Inc. (Power Sector) Cagsiay 1, Mauban; Pacific Royal Basic Foods, Inc. (Manufacturing) Bgy. Mangilag Sur, Candelaria; Integrated Synergy Construction Corporation (Construction) Villa Ibaba, Atimonan; and Liquigaz Philippines Corporation (Gas Depot / LPG Terminal) Bgy. Castañas, Sariaya.
A total of more than P7.7-million were allotted for the grants and livelihood programs while the lot for housing was donated by Former PNP Chief Recaredo Sarmiento.
