MANILA — The Philippine National Police on Sunday recorded two more fatalities due to Coronavirus disease raising the total number of deaths to 108.

According to the PNP Health Service report submitted to PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar, PNP patient 107 was a 50-year-old policeman assigned in Region 1 while PNP patient 108 was a 39-year-old policewoman assigned in Region 3.

Based on medical records, patient 107 experienced mild symptoms of Covid-19 on August 27 and was advised to isolate and undergo an RT-PCR test which yielded a positive result.

On August 29, he was rushed to a nearby hospital due to difficulty in breathing but pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The patient reportedly received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine on August 6, 2021.

Meanwhile, patient 108 was admitted to a nearby hospital on August 31 due to Covid-19 symptoms and underwent a swab test.

She tested positive and after two days of hospitalization, on September 2 she succumbed due to Pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Failure.

As of September 4, PNPHS tallied an additional 243 new cases in the police force bringing the total cases to 35,351 with 2,075 active cases while 206 new recoveries were logged, raising the total number of recovered cases to 33,168.

Further, the PNP has 106,174 or 46.68% fully vaccinated police personnel while 100,187 or 44.99% have already received their first dose of vaccine. With this, there are only 16,339 or 7.34% police personnel who have not been vaccinated. (ai/mtvn)
