MANILA — Renovation works of historic Manila Zoo are now in full swing but the Manila city government made sure with the contractor that not a single tree will be cut in the course of the ongoing re-construction of place into a “Bagong Manila Zoo.”
Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso said the city government made it a priority to “give importance to nature” when the city zoo was being designed for redevelopment.
“Iniwasan natin ang pagputol ng puno. Natural lang, hindi natin ginalaw. Isinabay natin sa design. May respeto tayo sa nature,” the Mayor told Vice Mayor Ma. Sheilah ‘Honey’ Lacuna-Pangan during an inspection on Friday afternoon.
They were also joined by Manila City Engineer Armand Andres and Manila City Electrician Randy Sadac.
The newly rehabilitated Manila Zoo is expected to open for public viewing again by December.
