BAGUIO City – The Department of Health (DOH)-Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) recently announced that Baguio City is one of the country’s top three most improved local government units in environmental health services.
Regional Director Ruby Constantino disclosed the recognition in a letter to the city government of Baguio dated August 16, 2021.
“Baguio City government has exerted efforts and investments in improving their environmental health in terms of safe drinking water supply, sanitation, food safety, governance, and health promotion so that their constituents can live a healthier life.”
The recognition is given by the DOH through its Environmental Health and Safe Settings Division (EHSSD) to local government units.
Constantino said the evaluation and validation were conducted last July 26-30, 2021 based on the “Most Improved LGUs in Environmental Health Services” (MILEHS) guidelines where Baguio City emerged as one of the top three winners.
As an awardee, Baguio City will receive a financial incentive amounting to P125,000 to be used by the Baguio City Health Services Office for its environmental health programs.
The award is given yearly by the DOH and is in line with the celebration of World Environmental Health Day by virtue of Proclamation 595-2018.
