MANILA — Labor Secretary Silvestre “Bebot” Bello III gave emphasis on the importance of taking good care of the younger generation and providing opportunities to them.
In his recent visits to Candaba, Pampanga, and Lucena City in Quezon Province, Bello said that “w”e should give an opportunity to our youth, especially in this time of pandemic.
“Dagdagan natin ng 200 na benepisaryo ang TUPAD. Pero mayor, ‘yung mga kukunin na 200 ‘yun namang mga bata na 18-, 19-, 20-[years old], ‘yung mga bata naman (Let’s give an additional 200 beneficiaries for TUPAD. But mayor, those 200 you will hire should be the younger ones 18-, 19-, 20-[years old]),” Bello told Candaba Mayor Rene Manlanque.
“Sa panahon ng pandemya, kawawa ‘yung mga kabataan. Hindi sila nakakalabas. Wala silang magawa, kaya bigyan natin sila ng trabaho. Magtrabaho sila ng sampung araw at sumahod sila ng Php4,200 (In this time of pandemic, pity are the youth. They can’t go out. They have nothing to do, so let’s give them jobs. They work for 10 days and earn Php4,200),” the Labor chief added.
He also announced the provision of free bikes to Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons of Candaba.
Furthermore, he also offered DOLE provincial jobs to Government Internship Program (GIP) beneficiaries in Lucena City saying that the Department needs additional inspectors for POGOs.
“Dito [Lucena] na kayo magtrabaho. Hindi na kayo kailangan magpunta sa Maynila. Basta college graduate kayo (You work here. You don’t need to go to Manila for as long as you’re a college graduate),” Bello said.
He also encouraged all the beneficiaries to get vaccinated and use the money they got from programs of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) wisely by prioritizing the basic needs of their families. (ai/mtvn)
