MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is suspending the operations of its consular office at SM Megamall from Sept. 6 to 10 following an outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases.
DFA said 11 personnel have been afflicted with Covid-19, while others have been identified as close contacts.
“Our SM Megamall (NCR East) consular office got hit hard by Covid. 11 positives! We’re shutting it down temporarily. This pandemic has impacted our capacity to service the public and we seek your understanding,” DFA Undersecretary Brigido Dulay tweeted Saturday night.
The DFA said it will conduct thorough disinfection of the consular office’s premises.
Affected applicants for this period will be accommodated at DFA-Aseana on their scheduled day and will receive an email providing them with an alternative passport appointment time slot.
“The Department requests the public’s continued understanding as it adheres to the prescribed measures against the Covid-19 pandemic for the safety of personnel and applicants,” the DFA said. (PNA)
