MANILA — Pampanga Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda led the province’s officials in expressing support to the possible senatorial bid of Labor Secretary Silvestre “Bebot” Bello III as the former offered his services to be the latter’s campaign manager in the coming 2022 national elections.
“Boss [Secretary Bello], anuman maging desisyon mo, boss, campaign manager mo ako rito sa Region 3 (Boss whatever your decision is, I will be your campaign manager in Region 3),” Pineda said in his speech recently during a short ceremony for Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) payout in Candaba, Pampanga.
Secretary Bello and other officials from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), provincial and municipal officials were present during the payout for 1,500 TUPAD beneficiaries and awarding of other livelihood programs valued at Php10-million.
“Alam niyo po, inaasahan ng Pampanga si Secretary Bello sa TUPAD program. Wala po tayong ibang nakuhaan kundi si Secretary Bello. ‘Yung tulong na binigay niya since last year sa atin non-stop po (Did you know, Pampanga relied on Secretary Bello in TUPAD program. We weren’t able to get from others, only from Secretary Bello. The help we got from him since last year is non-stop),” Pineda added.
He disclosed that maybe, in the whole Philippines, Pampanga has the most numbers of TUPAD and other livelihood programs’ beneficiaries from DOLE.
“Boss, maraming maraming salamat sa lahat ng tulong mo sa mga Kapampangan (Boss, thank you for all the help you gave to Kapampangans),” the governor said.
He also admitted that he was among those who are encouraging the honorable secretary to vie for a seat in the Senate.
However, Bello, though happy with the warm welcome and support given to him by the Kapampangans, said that he has not yet decided whether to run for Senate or not in the upcoming May 2022 National and Local Elections saying that he still needs to talk and have the blessing from some family members.
