PLM students press for ‘Ligtas na Balik-Eskwela’

Students from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila hang a streamer on Sunday (05 Sept. 2021) at the campus’ main gate showcasing the main concern of parents, teachers and government officials alike for a “Ligtas na Balik-Eskwela.”

Department of Education (DepEd) Sec. Leonor Briones said President Rodrigo Duterte has chosen September 13 as the opening date for the school year (SY) 2021-2022 and will end on “June 24, 2022, for a total of 209 school days in adherence to Republic Act 7797.”

On August 7, 2021, the DepEd said that face-to-face classes, whether partial or full-scale, are still not allowed “unless permitted by the President.”

As of this writing, Malacanang is yet to issue a final decision on the matter and that might well be affected by the rising Covid-19 cases that hit 20K+ for the third straight day Sunday (05 Sept. 2021).
