MANILA — The Department of Health has on Monday (06 Sept. 2022) registered a new record-high single-day positive cases of the coronavirus at 22,415 infections.
It was 49 higher than last Monday’s 22,366 single-day total (30th of Aug 2021) and the huge spike brought the cumulative count since the pandemic began in March 2020 to 2,103,331 in which 159,663 are active cases either undergoing treatment or isolation.
In terms of fatalities, the DOH chalked up 103 deaths (34,337 overall) even as recoveries surged to 20,109, pushing the total number of survivors to 1,909,361.
The IATF said Metro Manila is all set to implement granular or street-level lockdowns starting Sept. 8 as it shifts to GCQ, the second-lowest quarantine type in a four-step classification.
The system is intended to contain the spread of the virus and keep businesses afloat.(ai/mtvn)
