25-year-old arrested in buy-bust sting in Tuguegarao City

TUGUEGARAO City — A shoot-out incident occurred along Bonifacio St, Centro 7, Tuguegarao City yesterday (September 8, 2021) at around 5:30 PM when authorities tried to arrest a suspect listed as a “Street Level Individual Top 10 Priority” during an anti-illegal drug-buy-bust operation conducted by joint operatives of the Drug Enforcement Unit and Intelligence Operatives of Cagayan Provincial Police Office.
The operation was conducted along Gonzaga Extension Centro 10 at around 5:20 PM where the suspect identified as Aegis Aldheim Catral, 25 years old, single, and a resident of Lecaros Ext, Ugac Sur, Tuguegarao City was caught.

According to a report from the Cagayan Provincial Police Office, the suspect sensed that he was transacting with an undercover police officer and immediately pulled out his gun and fired at the operatives hitting their service vehicle.

The police officers then retaliated with shots also hitting the vehicle of the suspect who fled towards Gonzaga going through Bonifacio Street.
The suspect was cornered in front of the RCBC BANK where he surrendered after a brief hot pursuit.

Police confiscated from the suspect one unit of Caliber 9mm M1911 including five magazines with bullets; one unit of Taurus Cal. 9mm including three magazines with 32 bullets, I piece of a hand grenade, 1 black sling bag, 1 black box, and 1 weighing scale.

Also confiscated were 3 pieces of sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu with a street value amounting to P15, 000, I blue box cartridge case with 100 pieces of “empty fired cartridge cases”, money amounting to P6,320 and one unit of gray Honda Civic with Plate ZKJ 587.

Appropriate charges are now being filed against the suspect in violation of Sec.11 & 12 of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and RA 9516 (Illegal and Unlawful Use of Firearms).
