MANILA — Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has commended the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) for its apprehension of the suspects in the murder of a former media practitioner and businesswoman.
At the same time, Belmonte expressed her gratitude to QCPD for its immediate action that led to the arrest of alleged perpetrators of the incident that resulted in the death of Gwenn Salamida and also injured Oliver Perona last August 17 in Brgy. Apolonio Samson.
“Dahil sa walang pagod at walang patid na pagtutok ng mga tauhan ng QCPD sa kaso, naaresto ang mga sinasabing nasa likod ng krimen na sina Nilo Anub at Richard Alaba, noong gabi ng ika-3 ng Setyembre sa Brgy. Commonwealth, Quezon City (Because of the untiring and continuous investigation of the operatives of QCPD in this case, suspects Nilo Anub and Richard Alaba were apprehended last September 3 in Brgy. Commonwealth in Quezon City),” Belmonte said.
The custody of the suspects, as well as the evidence, were turned over to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU).
“Umaasa ako na sa positibong pangyayaring ito, mabilis na makakamtan ng pamilya ng napaslang, pati na ng sugatang biktima, ang katarungan na kanilang inaasam (I hope that with this positive development, the much-awaited justice that the victims’ family desired will be served fast),” Belmonte added.
Based on the report, Anub and Alaba, who are both residents of Brgy. Commonwealth, QC were arrested at Sto. Niño Street, of the said barangay, around 7:00 PM on September 3.
Recovered pieces of evidence were one (1) Revolver .38 caliber; one (1) piece of hand grenade; two (2) pieces of M203 ammunition; and one (1) unit TOYOTA Corolla color silver bearing plate number TSG 684.
Investigation showed the vehicle that the suspects used in the commission of the crime was the same vehicle that was recovered from Anub and Alaba.
Apprehending officers were operatives of La Loma Police Station led by P/Lt. Col. Tyrone DG Valenzona. (ai/mtvn)
