MANILA — Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra has on Monday (13 Sept. 2021) confirmed his office will soon sign an immigration lookout bulletin order for eight (8) persons involved in the Senate’s probe into the alleged misuse of the government’s COVID-19 response funds.

The DOJ chief, however, clarified that he is “not sure” about their involvement with Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp, the medical supplier supposedly involved in dubious deals with the government, but he admitted the request came from the Senate.

“The DOJ will issue an immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO) against anyone upon receipt of a proper request from a person in interest, more so from a co-equal branch of government,” Guevarra told reporters.

Guevarra’s announcement came on the heels of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee (BRC) members’ recommendation to put former presidential adviser Michael Yang in the country’s immigration watchlist.

The powerful committee is zeroing in on Yang’s probable links to Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp., a local company that allegedly cornered billions in medical supply contracts from the Duterte government amid the pandemic.

The panel adopted the motion after Yang ignored the BRC’s scheduled hearing on the controversial COVID-19 response funds. (ai/mtvn)
