COTABATO CITY – A total of 53 village officials and workers of Barangay San Isidro in Midsayap, North Cotabato have been placed in isolation due to exposure to a village council member who tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Of the total number, 26 have remained in isolation at the barangay facility while 27 are under home quarantine.
“This is due to (our) exposure to a colleague during a recent barangay meeting,” Barangay San Isidro Council Member Ronald Oñas said in a phone interview over a local radio station on Tuesday.
He added that those infected included members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team.
“We are still waiting for the result of our reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction tests,” he said.
All barangay hall transactions in San Isidro were suspended within the next 14 days to allow disinfection, contact tracing, and ample time for those exposed to determine if they have symptoms of the virus.
As of Sept. 13, North Cotabato has 1,422 active cases while Covid-19-related deaths stand at 364 since March 2020. (PNA)
