MANILA — Police officers in Iloilo City shared their blessings through Maagang Pamasko gift-giving and feeding programs to the members of an Aeta community in the municipality of Cabatuan, Iloilo.
Local police personnel visited the Aeta community in Barangay Leong and held a gift-giving and feeding program in the village on September 2 for them as part of the Iloilo police’s celebration of the 27th National Crime Prevention this month.
Aside from goods, the children of the Aeta community also received slippers from the police.
Other stakeholders were also part of this program, which aims to help Aetas in this time of the pandemic.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar commended the police officers who gave assistance to the Aetas amid the health crisis.
“Sa ating pagtulong, wala dapat Pilipinong naiiwan. Hindi natin dapat kalimutan ang mga kapatid nating Aeta at iba pang indigenous groups dahil lubos din silang apektado ng pandemya,” PGen Eleazar said.
“Sana ay magsilbing ehemplo itong ginawa ng ating kapulisan mula Iloilo sa mga pulis sa ibang panig ng bansa,” he added.
The activity was a joint project of the Iloilo Kopino (Korean-Filipino) Community Inc, AFPSLAI Iloilo, values formation pastors, Regional Police Security and Protection Unit 6, Regional Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit 6, Cabatuan PNP, and the Police Community Affairs and Development Unit.
