MANILA — The Philippine National Police recorded one more death among its personnel due to Coronavirus (Covid-19) bringing the total of deaths to 110.
PNP Chief, Police General Guillermo Eleazar confirmed the death of a 52-year-old male cop, assigned in Western Visayas.
Based on the reports, on September 9, the said police personnel was rushed to hospital in Iloilo City after experiencing difficulty in breathing. On the same day, he succumbed due to cardiac arrest and pneumonia.
A post mortem examination and swab test were done on the deceased cop which yielded a positive result of Covid-19. He has completed his vaccine last August 3, 2021.
“I would like to extend the PNP’s sincerest condolences to the bereaved family and assure them that all benefits and assistance will be given”, Eleazar said.
In other developments, the PNPHS recorded additional 229 confirmed cases as of September 15, bringing the total to 37,566 infected personnel with 2,685 active cases. A total of 189 recoveries were also noted raising the total to 34,771 personnel who recovered from the virus.
“Sa ating mga pulis, dobleng pag-iingat pa rin ang gawin kahit kayo ay kumpleto na ng bakuna lalo na ang mga nasa frontline. Sa ngayon ang PNP ay mayroon nang 56.02% o 124,758 fully vaccinated police personnel samantalang 85,877 or 38.56% ang nakatanggap na ng unang dose ng vaccine. Kaya naman mayroon na lamang 12,076 or 5.42% na pulis ang hindi pa nababakunahan,” Eleazar stated. (ai/mtvn)
