PDEA wants drug queen’s house used for abused kids

BAGUIO CITY – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) is working on the declaration of the residence of the city’s alleged “drug queen” to become a safe house for abused children.

Gil Cesario Castro, regional director of the PDEA-CAR, in a phone interview on Friday, said they are asking the city council’s anti-illegal drugs board to convene and declare the residence of Brenda Singson, alleged drug queen, at Magnolia Street Upper QM as a nuisance and, after forfeiture, be used as a “safe space” for abused children.

He said that under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs law, an area may be declared a nuisance and forfeited in favor of the government with the PDEA as custodian.

Castro, however, said the PDEA-CAR will waive such right to the government so the residence can be converted for use to protect abused children.

On September 14, joint personnel from the PDEA-Cordillera, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) conducted a search warrant in the residence where Brenda Singson’s daughter, 29-year-old Alysia Allidem Singson, was arrested together with the seizure of several sachets of shabu, firearms, and drug paraphernalia.

Castro said Brenda, who was convicted of a life sentence in 2015, was arrested in a buy-bust operation at the same place. Other successful anti-illegal drugs operations were also done at the residence which is identified as an area where illegal drugs transactions happen.

Brenda’s nephew Errol Singson is also detained at the Baguio City Jail and facing charges for violation of the anti-illegal drugs law while Alysia’s husband is also in jail for the same offense.

The official added that Brenda’s son, Christopher, was also sentenced to life imprisonment in 2016 for the rape and death of a certain “Cheska” in 2009 and “Carmela” in 2015.

Castro said that during the operation on Tuesday, they found and seized several bank transactions from individuals and will do further investigation on the possibility that other persons are benefiting from the illegal drug transaction of the family.

“It is time that we declare it (house) as a nuisance to prevent it (from) being used for illegal drug transactions and forfeit the same in favor of the government,” the official said. (PNA
