Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III on Friday, September 24, distributed financial assistance to displaced workers even as he also turned over 50 livelihood carts to qualified DOLE beneficiaries in the Capitol Grounds of Misamis Oriental in Cagayan de Oro.
The ‘Nego-Kart’ Project is part of the DOLE’s effort to assist the unemployed and is one of the many DOLE programs that seek to improve the lives of many hard-working, but low-income vendors.
The ‘nego-karts’ project provides vendors with the assistance that will enable them to increase, upgrade, and diversify their products and services, and market these to more buyers or customers.
Aside from the vending carts, the DOLE also provides beneficiaries of the project appropriate training in production, entrepreneurship and management skills, and initially pays for their enrolment with the Social Security System, PhilHealth and the necessary local government business permits.
Each vendor beneficiary is provided with a total of P15,000 in assistance including a vending cart and accessory livelihood tools costing P12,000, along with working capital amounting to P2,500 and training assistance worth P500.
