SAN FERNANDO City, La Union – The Department of Health-Regional Office 1 (DOH-RO1) has confirmed the first Delta Variant case in San Fernando City, La Union following the result of the genome sequencing analysis conducted by the Philippine Genome Center of the University of the Philippines.
The infected patient, however, has fully recovered from the virus.
The city health office is monitoring the patient’s progress including close contacts to prevent further transmission.
The Delta Variant is much more contagious and spreads easily. Among its symptoms includes runny nose or blocked nose, sore throat, fever, prolonged headache, diarrhea, vomiting, fatigue, and muscle aches.
The most common symptoms are the loss of taste and smell.
With the presence of this new virus in the province, DOH-RO1 is advising the public to be extra careful and strictly follow minimum health protocols to avoid getting infected. (ai/mtvn)
