Tacurong mourns passing of councilor due to Covid-19

TACURONG CITY – The Philippine flag now flies at half-mast in front of the city hall here as the locality mourns the passing of a city councilor who earlier tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) via an antigen test.

Mayor Lito Montilla said Councilor Maximo L. Casador Jr., 76, expired at around 3 a.m. Monday.

“It is with a grieving heart and great sadness that we, the City Government of Tacurong, lament over the sudden passing of City Councilor Maximo L. Casador Jr,” Mayor Montilla said in a statement Tuesday.

“Our profuse sympathies and sincerest condolences to the bereaved family of Hon. Casador,” the City Sangguniang Panlungsod, chaired by Vice Mayor Lalaine Montilla, said.

Allan Freno, city Information officer, said the entire city is now mourning the death of Casador.

He said Casador only tested positive of Covid-19 through antigen test and his reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction result has yet to come out.

“However, the family decided to have his body cremated,” Freno said. Casador was serving his second term as an elected city legislator at the time of his death. (PNA)
