FAMILY OUTING TURNS TRAGIC. CEBU City — A group of 17 family members on Sunday, September 26, 2021, went for a weekend outing in one of the famous tourist attractions of Cebu, the Tinubdan falls located in Barangay Tabili, Catmon, a mere 15 kilometers away from the town center.
The family getaway, however, turned out one hellish nightmare for the family members as ravaging waters suddenly came rushing down engulfing them in one tremendous sweep.
Three individuals were reported to be missing while the rest managed to flee the rushing waters clinging against large rocks while waiting for the rescue teams.
The Tinubdan Falls incident happened around 1 p.m. and was captured by a drone camera which was posted and have gone viral on social media yesterday, Monday.
According to reports from the Catmon Police, the body of one Kent Jude Monterola, 17 years old, was found around 9:58 p.m. Sunday, September 26, almost 10 hours after they have been swept away on the falls. HIs lifeless body was retrieved in sewage in Sitio Kansija, Barangay Flores, Catmon, 14 kilometers away from where he was swimming along with his relatives.
Kent was one of the three persons who were declared missing after they were swept by the sudden gush of water at the Tinubdan Falls.
According to witnesses, Kent went back to save Jacel Alastra and her daughter when he saw the gush of waters. He was swept away while trying to grab them.
Authorities are still looking for the bodies of Jacel Alastra, 32 years old, and her daughter, Princess, 7 years old of Barangay Kalangahan, Tuburan.
