MANILA — Labor Secretary Silvestre “Bebot” Bello III gave emphasis to the importance of healthy collaboration between management and workers of health institutions in fighting health crises like the Covid-19 pandemic.
So said the labor chief in his message to newly-elected officers of the Makati Medical Center Employees Association (MMCEA) even as he expressed his gratitude to health industry stakeholders for their dedication and commitment they put in their work amid the Covid crisis.
“Continued collaboration between the management and employees of a health institution is critical in effectively addressing the impact of any public health concerns such as a pandemic,” Bello said.
He also stressed how MMCEA effectively selflessly handled the CoViD-19 pandemic together with the hospital administration.
“On behalf of the government and particularly the labor department, I would like to express my gratitude for the dedication and commitment that you put into your work,” he added.
Bello also stated the significance of public health and well-being in sustaining a good economic performance of a country.
“One of the hard lessons that we realized from the current Covid-19 pandemic is that the economic performance of a country is directly linked to the health and well-being of its people,” he said.
Bello also stated that ensuring the health and well-being of our people is essential for job generation and economic development.
“For our country to make an economic rebound, we need to work towards ensuring that our workers are healthy and fit enough to work productively,” he pointed out.
“Indeed, sustained economic growth can only be achieved with a healthy population,” Bello also disclosed. (ai/mtvn)
