MANILA—Maja Salvador has joined the longest-running noontime TV show Eat Bulaga and is now officially part of Dabarkads.
She was introduced as the newest addition to the show on Sunday afternoon, October 2 and she will host a segment called “DC 2021,” which will feature classic dance hits.
Before Maja was introduced, Eat Bulaga rolled a long audio-visual presentation. This is about a young girl from Aparri who learned how to dance by watching Eat Bulaga while peeping through their neighbor’s window.
The next scene showed a woman at the lobby of EB studios and performed a dance evolution of yesteryears’ hits like Macarena and MMMBop.
As she ramped up the stage and gave her own twist of 1995 dance hit “Lick It” popularized by the Streetboys in the country, Maja’s face was focused on camera and after her dance number, she was officially introduced by Jose Manalo, Ryan Agonciallo as part of Eat Bulaga!
“Hello, mga Dabarkads,” Maja shouted in excitement on her first day as one of the hosts of the show.
From Aparri to Eat Bulaga!
During the interview with Maja, she revealed that she grew up in Aparri and has been watching the noontime show since she was young.
So it was easily connected to the theme song of EB “Mula Aparri hanggang Jolo.”
She said this was how she became interested in dancing since she was always watching the male dance group Streetboys.
The 32 -year old actress-dancer continued, “So, napapanood ko, nahilig ako magsayaw because of Streetboys po.
Siyempre, proud taga-Aparri!”
Maja revealed another trivia that she almost joined the “Little Miss Philippines.”
Maja is ecstatic because while she used to be a viewer of Eat Bulaga!, she is now one of its hosts. And the happiest in this development is Maja’s mom who said that she misses her daughter dancing on stage.
Speculations about Maja’s joining Eat Bulaga! came out on September 25 with a teaser about a segment which called “Maximum Sayawan.”
Apart from the M.S. initials, Jose and Ryan gave a clue that a personality who is about to join them is “one of the best actresses and one of the best dancers in the industry.”
The hosts gave emphasis on “MA-HU” that it was easily guessed by the netizens that they are pertaining to Maja.
Netizens were glad to see Maja joining the EB and it became a trending topic on Twitter with hashtag #MajaForEatBulaga.
Apart from EB, Maja is also with the Kapatid network TV5 where she has a drama series Niña Niño, which gave her a Best Actress trophy in a Leading Role in Asian Academy Creative Awards.
She is also with the TV5 weekly show na POPinoy, where she is one of the judges. (ECD/MTVN)
