CALOOCAN CITY – Recognizing that he has big shoes to fill, the young Congressman Dale “Along” Malapitan has vowed to continue the legacy of his father, outgoing Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan, in further developing this city in line with the “Aksyon at Malasakit” slogan.
Residents here noted that under the Malapitan administration the once dirty and “dangerous” Monumento had been cleaned up and no longer will anyone pass by fearing for his life and security.

“Namulat tayo sa mga ginawa ni Mayor Oca. Namulat tayo sa pagseserbisyo sa ating mga mamamayan,” Along Malapitan humbly said.

His father has served as mayor of this city for three terms, starting in 2013 until 2019.

“Ang gusto ng mga taga-Caloocan ay may continuity,” the elder Malapitan said.

Under the administration of Malapitan, the University of Caloocan City was established and two modern medical centers were built – the Caloocan City Medical Center (CCMC) and the Caloocan City North Medical Center.

Aside from the two medical centers, the Caloocan Puericulture Center and Maternity House at the annex building of CCMC along Mabini St. has been upgraded.

Along Malapitan, however, took the ladder in his political career and started as a barangay captain in Barangay 137 in 2007.

In 2010, Along ran for councilor of the first district and garnered the highest votes.

He was chosen president of Liga ng Barangay in 2013.

“Doon po natin inakda ang libreng matrikula sa University of Caloocan na napapakinabangan ng mga mag-aaral natin ngayon dito sa ating lungsod,” Along recalled.

In 2016, he ran as first district representative and handily won.

“Dito na natin inakda kung bakit tayo nagkaroon ng 800-bed capacity na ospital sa may Tala,” Along bared. (ai/mtvn)

In 2019, Along Malapitan was re-elected as congressman. He then became chairman of the House committee on poverty alleviation and head contingent of the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal (HERT)

“Ngayong panahon ng Covid, talagang kailangang pagtuunan din natin ng pansin ang kalusugan ng ating mga mamamayan,” Along stressed.

It can be recalled that last month, Along Malapitan obtained a 67-percentage result will be up against Congressman Edgar “Egay” Erice who only got 30- percentage count in the “NCR Halalan 2022 survey” conducted by RP- Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMDinc).

Meanwhile, leaders of the Malapitan Pa Rin Movement said the issue of political dynastism seems hollow and ineffective in this city even if Along runs for mayor and former Mayor Oca runs for congressman.

They said that just like having a good and bad cholesterol and the father-and-son Malapitan have proven to be a good one and the issue of political dynasties do not affect their performance and public service.
