SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Some 14,752 teaching and non-teaching personnel of the Department of Education (DepEd) in the Ilocos Region have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) as of October 6.
Based on the data provided by DepEd Ilocos Region on Thursday, of the total number, 12,015 are teaching personnel while 2,737 are non-teaching personnel.
Some 21,534 teachers and 4,028 non-teachers in the region have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccines.
There are a total of 17,357 teachers who have registered for the vaccination rollout, while some 5,415 teachers eligible for inoculation have not yet registered.
For the non-teaching personnel, some 1,931 of them have registered while 764 have not yet registered.
Most of the personnel are under the A4 priority group or the frontline essential workers, and A3 or individuals with comorbidities.
“The others don’t want to register while some of them were listed in the eligible group but the local government units did not yet receive their registration since it is not yet the turn of the priority group they belong to,” Dr. Romarie Castillo, medical officer and education support services of DepEd Ilocos, said in a recent interview.
Castillo said the completion of the vaccination of the eligible population in the DepEd Ilocos Region will depend on the availability of the vaccines. (PNA)
